Jasmine Budnella (she/her), Director of Drug Policy, leads VOCAL-NY’s drug policy work to end the drug war and win policies that promote harm reduction and public health. At VOCAL-NY, Jasmine has helped build coalitions and elevated our leaders to organize and to pass statewide legislation to remove barriers for Medication for Opioid Use Disorder for New Yorkers enrolled in Medicaid and for those in prisons and jails, decriminalized and expanded syringe access, doubled funding for the State’s harm reduction agency, blocked legislation to expand the war on drugs, and successfully won a multi-year campaign to bring Overdose Prevention Centers to New York City. Jasmine has a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Public Policy with an emphasis on the human rights of people who use drugs.
